The lecturers of the department held a working meeting with representatives of the University of Turku in Turku (Finland)

On June 22, 2023, there was a working meeting of lecturers of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies Assist. Prof. Kateryna KRAVCHENKO and Assist. Prof. Liudmyla KLIUCHKO with Jussi S. JAUGIAINEN, professor of the Department of Geography and Geology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Turku (Turku, Finland). During the meeting, the lecturers presented V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National and the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, discussed research directions and projects in the field of human geography, demography, urban geography, topics of joint publications in European journals indexed by scientometric databases, possibilities and directions of further cooperation of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies of the Karazin University with the mentioned university. During the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish cooperation within the framework of research projects on the study of the migration of Ukrainian refugees to the countries of the European Union as a result of the full-scale invasion of Russia and the territory of Ukraine; study of brownfields in Ukraine and Finland.

During the visit, the lecturers got acquainted with the peculiarities of the planning structure and functional zoning of the city of Turku, which combines port management and a large number of green areas. The lecturers got acquainted with the history and development of the city and the university, which is the second largest university in Finland after the University of Helsinki. They visited the Maritime Center Forum Marinum, one of the oldest parks in Turku - Brachen Pusto, which is located next to Turku Cathedral, Linnanpuisto Castle Park and the port area of the city.
