Liudmyla Niemets – Doctor of Geographical Sciences,Professor, Head of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, the Excellent Teacher of Ukraine, Honored Professor of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

She was born on May 20, 1948 in Dyvychky village of Kyiv region. She graduated from the Faculty of Geology and Geography of O.M. Gorky Kharkiv State University in 1974.

She has been working at the Kharkiv National University since 1984, he has heading the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies since 2006.

In 1995, she defended her candidate's thesis on the topic "Constructive-geographic basis of continuous environmental education and upbringing", and she defended her doctoral thesis on the topic "Socio-geographical bases of the strategy of transition of Ukraine to the model of sustainable development" in 2004.

She is the head of the specialized academic council K 64.051.23 for the defense of PhD theses in the specialty 11.00.02 "Human Geography" at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (since 2009).

She is the Chief editor of the collection of scientific works "Human Geography Journal" (since 2005), a member of the editorial boards of specialized publications in Ukraine and Georgia. She is the chairwoman of the organizing committee of annual international scientific and practical conferences: "Region: Optimal Development Strategy" and "Region: Human-Geographical Aspects", Head of the organizing committee of international scientific and practical workshops, a member of the program organizing committee of the "International Business Information Management Association Conference".

She is a member of the Academic Council and Scientific Methodological Council of the university and a number of specialized commissions. Head of the methodological seminar of the Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism. Member of the Academic Council and Scientific Methodological Council of the Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism.

She trains highly qualified specialists: fourteen PhD theses and one doctoral thesis were prepared and defended under her supervision.

Honors: Awarded the "Excellence of Education of Ukraine" badge (2008), the certificate of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine "For services to the Ukrainian people" for a significant contribution to the development of national science and education, the training of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel and high professionalism (2008), the V.N. Karazin Prize of the III degree in 2009 and in 2013, the V. N. Karazin Medal in 2013, the Order of Princess Olga of the III degree for a significant personal contribution to socio-economic, scientific-technical, cultural- educational development of Ukraine, significant professional achievements and dedicated service to the Ukrainian people (2015). Honored Professor of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (2018).
