Lecturers of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies took part in the working meeting of the international consortium dedicated to the preparation of a potential research project

On April 30, 2026, lecturers of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies took part in the working meeting of the international consortium dedicated to the preparation of a potential research project on the topic: "Human Capital Recovery through Socio-Economic Integration and Reintegration of Migrants in the Context of Modern Challenges, Community Resilience and Prospects for Sustainable Development (Case Studies of Ukraine and the EU)" (RECONNECT-UA). The project is planned to be submitted within the LUKE Joint Call for projects in the field of research and innovation, which is implemented as part of the international initiative "Linking Ukraine to the European Research Area - Joint Funding and Capacity Building Platform for Enhanced Research and Innovation Cooperation (LUKE)". It unites partner institutions from Ukraine, Austria, Germany, Denmark and Lithuania.

The international consortium includes the leading scientific and educational institutions of Europe, in particular the Department of Geography, Tourism and Territorial Planning, University of Oradea (Romania) (project leader from the partner is prof. Cezar Morar), the Department of Geography, Akdeniz University (Turkey) (the project leader from the partner is Assoc. prof. Mehmet Tahsin Şahin), Department of Geography, Palacky University Olomouc (Czech Republic) (the project leader from the partner is Dr. Petr Šimáček), Department of Regional Development, Public Sector Administration and Law, Tomas Bata University in Zlin (Czech Republic) (the project leader from the partner is RNDr. Pavel Bednář), Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland) (the project leader from the partner is Dr. Ewa Karolina Korcelli-Olejniczak).

Project coordination from V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University will be carried out by the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies under the leadership of D.Sc. in Geography, prof. Liudmyla Niemets and D.Sc. in Geography, prof.  Kateryna Sehida.

During the meeting, the project acronym (RECONNECT-UA) was generated, the substantive part of the project proposal, the requirements of funding organizations for the project were discussed, potential results, applied significance, novelty of the project, etc. were outlined.
