The webinar was held under the FutureLand project

On May 29, 2026, the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies held the webinar on the topic: “Nature Restoration in Ukraine: Challenges of War and Opportunities for EU Integration” within the framework of the international project “Nature Restoration: Challenges and Opportunities for Future Landscape Specialists” (FutureLand), which is implemented under the Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships for Higher Education program (KA220-HED) together with partners from Finland, Spain and Italy.

The event was attended by more than 160 researchers, representatives of local authorities, the public sector and non-governmental organizations, students and specialists who share a deep interest in landscape restoration and the restoration of Ukraine from 13 countries around the world.

As part of the webinar, speakers (Assoc. Prof. Kateryna Kravchenko (V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University), Oleksandr Khodosovtsev (M.G. Kholodny Institute of Botany of the NAS of Ukraine), Daria Malchykova (Kherson State University), Olga Suptelo (V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University), Serhiy Kostrikov (V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University), Viktor Dvornikov (NGO "Platform of Urban Development") presented the results of joint work of scientists, representatives of public organizations, nature conservation areas, government bodies, including the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Kharkiv City Council, on the issues of opportunities and challenges of implementing the EU Regulation on the nature restoration in Ukraine, the impact of military operations on the state of the natural environment, urban ecosystems, restoration of natural landscapes after environmental disasters, the development of tactical urbanism, public participation and the formation of memorial spaces in the urban environment in Ukraine and the city of Kharkiv in particular.
