On April 23, 2026, the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies held an International Scientific and Practical Conference of Students, Postgraduate Students and Young Scientists “Region - 2026: Human-Geographical Aspects”.
More than 80 applications were submitted to the conference from different regions of Ukraine and other countries, in particular from Georgia, Turkey, and the Czech Republic. More than 50 participants directly took part in the conference, including from foreign higher education institutions: Tbilisi State University named after I. Javakhishvili (Georgia), Akdeniz University (Turkey), Mendel University in Brno (Czech Republic).
16 participants made reports that raised topical issues of regional development, in particular economic, social, demographic, and environmental ones. An important place in the research of young scientists is occupied by scientific topics related to urbanization processes, migration problems, urban planning, issues of recreation and tourism development, rational nature management, and sustainable development.
