Student of the department studied at the University of Girona

During the spring semester of 2019-2020 academic year Daria Ushkvarok, a third-year student of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, studied at the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Girona (Spain) under the Erasmus + academic mobility program. The program covers all travel expenses and provides a scholarship for accommodation and meals.

Daria chose the following courses to study at the foreign educational institution:

  • Creation and commercialization of a new tourist product;
  • Strategic analysis in tourism markets;
  • Additional hotel accommodation;
  • Leisure;
  • Management of tourist resources

Lectures and practical classes, communication with lecturers and students were conducted exclusively in English.

In addition to studying, the student found time for travelling. Before the spread of the pandemic, she managed to visit Italy (Pisa) and go on an excursion to the Empurda Natural Park, which was arranged by the student government of the university. After easing the quarantine, Daria got acquainted with Catalonia, namely visited such cities as Portbou, Cholera, Figueres, Blanes, Lloret de Mar, Lake Bagnoles, and the capital of Catalonia – beautiful Barcelona. She also visited the Museum of the History of Girona, the Cinema Museum in Girona, and the Picasso Museum in Barcelona.

Studying in Spain gave the student opportunity to travel, get acquainted with the culture, food, lifestyle of Spaniards, meet new acquaintances, improve her skills, knowledge and gain new ones. Daria is extremely grateful to the organizers of the program, lecturers of the Department of Geography of the University of Girona and lecturers of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies for the opportunity to study at the University of Girona.
