Lecturers of the department held a working meeting with representatives of Tomas Bata University in Zlín

On May 12, 2022, the delegation of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies consisting of the Head of the Department Prof. Liudmyla NIEMETS and lecturers prof. Kateryna SEHIDA, Assist. Prof. Liudmyla KLIUCHKO, Assist. Prof. Ievgeniia TELEBIENIEVA and Assist. Prof. Kateryna KRAVCHENKO held a working meeting with representatives of the Tomas Bata University in Zlín: Deputy Dean for Pedagogical Activities and Lifelong Learning, Faculty of Economics and Management doc. Ing. Michal Pilík, Ph.D., Deputy Dean for International Relations, Faculty of Economics and Management Ing. Přemysl Pálka, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Regional Development, Public Sector Management and Law RNDr. Pavel Bednář, Ph.D., lecturers of the department Ing. Lenka Smékalová, Ph.D., Ing. Lukáš Danko, Ph.D. During the meeting, they discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Karazin University and Tomasz Bata University in Zlín in the field of regional development, including in the framework of Erasmus + academic mobility.

During the meeting it was agreed to intensify and strengthen cooperation between our departments and universities, to plan more intensive research cooperation in the field of human geography, spatial planning, regional development. During the visit, the lecturers got acquainted with the peculiarities of the planning structure and functional zoning of the city of Zlín, which combines modernity and a large number of green areas. They got acquainted with the history and development of the “Bati” enterprise, which played a powerful role in the development of the city. The main difference between the city of Zlín and most Czech cities is the following. Life in it is centered around the company, and not, as is customary, around the old castle or shopping area. They also visited the Museum of Shoes, created by Bati.
