On October 16-18, 2019 the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Region-2019: Optimal Development Strategy " was held at the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies. The purpose of the conference was to integrate the efforts of scientists, scientific and pedagogical staff, public organizations, representatives of the state executive entities, business structures to solve modern problems of optimization of regional development, research on regional socio-economic development, environmental protection, finding ways to train specialists for optimal regional development, development of plans and strategies for future regional development.
123 participants attended the conference, including 13 from other countries: Serbia (Belgrade University and Serbian State Academy of Arts and Sciences); Czech Republic (Tomasz Bata University in Zlín); Moldova (Moldova State University, Military Academy of the Republic of Moldova); Georgia (I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University); Germany (Dortmund Technical University); Spain (University of Girona); Greece (University of Western Attica in Athens); Armenia (Yerevan State University); Nigeria (School of Environmental Studies). Participants from Ukraine were representatives from 32 higher education institutions and organizations.
The authors submitted 73 abstracts, which were thematically included in 6 sections:
The Workshop "Human-geographical Plane of Urban Transformation: Investigation of Gentrification and Renovation Objects in Modern Kharkiv” was held within the framework of the conference, it was attended by all participants of the conference. The main purpose of this workshop was to analyze, based on own experience, the features of post-industrial transformations in Kharkiv.
