A workshop on the publication activity of scientists was held at the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies

On April 3, 2023, the Department of Socio-Economic Geography and Regional Studies held a workshop on the topic: "Publication activity of scientists: methodological recommendations and successful practices". The speakers of the seminar were lecturers of the department: D.Sc. in Geography, Prof. Liudmyla NIEMETS, D.Sc. in Geography, Prof. Kateryna SEGIDA, Doctor of Geography, Prof. Kostyantyn MEZENTSEV, PhD in Geography, Assoc. Prof. Ievgeniia TELEBENIEVA, Phd in Geography, Assoc. Prof. Kateryna KRAVCHENKO, PhD in Geography, Assoc. Prof. Liudmyla KLIUCHKO, PhD in Geography, Assoc. Prof. Pavlo KOBYLIN.

The Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, PhD in Chemistry, Assoc. Prof.  Anton PANTELEIMONOV. Prof. Liudmyla NIEMETS emphasized the relevance of the workshop in accordance with the "Strategic goals and intentions of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University until 2030", in terms of EU requirements for Ukraine and 17 goals of sustainable development. The publication activity of scientists should be aimed at increasing the level of scientific research, which should ensure a high image of the university in world rankings.

The workshop consisted of scientific and applied parts. In the scientific part, prof. Liudmyla NIEMETS and Prof. Kateryna SEHIDA revealed the features of scientific and metric databases, requirements for publications in journals indexed in these databases. In the applied part (PhD in Geography, Assoc. Prof. Ievgeniia TELEBENIEVA, PhD in Geography, Assoc. Prof. Kateryna KRAVCHENKO, PhD in Geography, Assoc. Prof. Liudmyla KLIUCHKO, PhD in Geography, Assoc. Prof. Pavlo KOBYLIN, D.Sc. in Geography, Prof. Kostyantyn MEZENTSEV) demonstrated 2 publications of the lecturers of the department in journals indexed in the scientific-metric databases Scopus/Web of Science (Q1 and Q2 quartiles), with a detailed analysis of the process of preparation, submission, review, publication and indexing of articles in these databases. The lecturers shared the experience of the international activity of the department, which ensures a high level of publishing activity and certain scientific achievements. The issue of finding grants, preparing requests, communicating with foreign colleagues was also discussed, and certain achievements, received grants, etc. were demonstrated. 36 participants took part in the seminar, including representatives of other regions of Ukraine.
