On October 7-9, 2025, the first workshop of the international project “Nature Restoration – challenges and opportunities for future landscape specialists” (FutureLand) was held with the participation of the international team of specialists from the University of Eastern Finland (Joensuu, Finland), Universitat de Girona (Girona, Spain), Università Iuav di Venezia (Venice, Italy), Diputacion De Gerona (Girona, Spain), Ente Parco Regionale Veneto Delta del Po (Ariano nel Polesine, Italy), the Regional Council of North Karelia (Joensuu, Finland) and V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

The project is led by the University of Eastern Finland (head of the project is Minna TANSKANEN, First Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies of the University of Eastern Finland (Joensuu, Finland).
The working group of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies consisting of Kateryna SEHIDA (head of the working group), Sergiy KOSTRIKOV, Liudmyla NIEMETS (deputies), Liudmyla KLIUCHKO, Pavlo KOBYLIN, Ievgeniia TELEBIENIEVA, Nataliia HUSIEVA (members of the working group) represents V.N. Kharkiv National University in this project.
V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is the leading partner for the implementation of work package 5 "Impact and dissemination of results", responsible for holding the FutureLand Symposium (the final event to summarize the project results, discuss key results that ensure the sustainable impact of the project after its completion).
Students and PhD students of the department will also be involved in the work on the project, who will take part in learning laboratories in Joensuu (Finland), Girona (Spain), Venice (Italy).
