Students, PhD students and lecturers of the department took part in a series of lectures organized by colleagues from Romania, Italy, Poland

On March 9-10, 2026, students, PhD students and lecturers of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies took part in a series of lectures within the framework of the Erasmus blended intensive program "Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Cities, by Managing Hazards and Risks", organized jointly by the University of Oradea (Romania), the University of Enna "Kore" (Italy), the University of the Mediterranean of Reggio Calabria (Italy), the University of Cagliari (Italy), the Poznań University of Life Sciences (Poland), the University of Gdańsk (Poland).

Over 70 students, Phd students, teachers, scientists from Romania, Italy, Poland, USA, Morocco attended the lectures. The lecturers of the Erasmus Blended Intensive Program were:

  • Cezar Morar (University of Oradea, Romania) – Perspectives over the Blended Intensive Program (BIP): Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Cities, by Managing Hazards and Risks
  • Laurel Berman (University of Illinois at Chicago/DePaul University, USA) – Risk Assessment Approaches to Site Remediation: KI Sawyer former military brownfield
  • Chiara Garau (University of Cagliari, Italy) – Smart and Sustainable Cities: Theoretical Foundations of Data-Driven Urban Resilience and Accessibility
  • Celestina Fazia (Kore University of Enna, Italy), Dr. Giulia F. G. Catania (Kore University of Enna, Italy), Federica Sortino (Kore University of Enna, Italy) – Implementing "Urban Resilience" in Contexts in Need of Regeneration
  • Kh Md Nahiduzzaman (Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, Morocco) – Navigating Territorial Risks: Rethinking Mobility, Land Use, and Urbanization in a Disrupted World.
  • Clara Stella Vicari Aversa (Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria) & Alessia Quattrone (Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria) – Innovative Architectural and Urban Regeneration Projects
  • Jan Barabach (Poznań University of Life Sciences, Poland) – Mobile GIS: Concepts, Technologies and Applications in Smart Cities
  • Agnieszka Bógdał-Brzezińska (University of Gdańsk, Poland) & Dr. Jan A. Wendt (University of Gdańsk, Poland) – Resistance and Resilience as Categories of Security Sciences. Inspirations for the Polish Discourse on Threats and Risks in Smart Cities
