On September 12, 2019 the first, second and third year students of the department together with the curators visited the CE “Memorial park "Drobitsky Yar", which refers to the immovable monuments of Ukraine, monuments of local history and monumental art, known as the place of mass shootings of civilians carried out by the Nazi occupation forces in 1941-1942. Also master students and the student of Tallinn University Silver Vincent Sutt, who is studying at the department within the Erasmus + academic mobility program, involved in the event.
The event was held jointly on the initiative of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, CE “Kharkiv Regional Station for Young Tourists” and CE “Memorial park "Drobitsky Yar".
We are very grateful to the director of the KP “Memorial Park "Drobitsky Yar” Irina Ferentseva and head of the department of local studies of CE “Kharkiv Regional Station for Young Tourists” Iryna Skryl for facilitating the event at the Memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, a meaningful excursion to one of the most tragic and memorable places in the history of Kharkiv, for conducting educational work and promoting the ideas of memory, peace, tolerance and unity.
