Students of the department studied in the Czech Republic

During the first semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, the 2nd-year students of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, Maria Pushkar and Daryna Avad, studied at the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Ostrava (Czech Republic) under the Erasmus+ international academic mobility program. The academic mobility program provides a grant covering flight, accommodation, meals, etc.

During the academic semester, Maria and Daryna studied the following courses: economic diplomacy, non-democratic regimes, geographic information systems, theory and practice of regional development, real estate analysis. All courses were held exclusively in English. Also, Daryna and Maria conducted research on the prospects of Ostrava's economic and social development and the Moravian-Silesian region. They compared the development of Czech cities with other European cities. The girls visited exciting excursions to the largest cities of the Czech Republic and repeatedly participated in international events organized by university representatives.

This educational experience allowed Daryna and Maria to significantly expand their knowledge in regional development, which, of course, they will use in the future for the effective development of cities and regions of Ukraine. Maria and Daryna are sincerely grateful to the organizers of the program and the lecturers of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies for the priceless opportunity to study at the University of Ostrava.
