Student of the department took part in the educational program “Study Tour to Poland”

From November 16 to 26, 2025, a student of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies Olha PODPRIATOVA took part in a study visit as part of the educational program “Study Tour to Poland”, which was organized by the Foundation for European Studies in Wrocław (Fundacja na Rzecz Studiów Europejskich).

The goal of the program was to familiarize students with various aspects of life in Poland, present the mechanisms of systemic change and modernization, and provide experience in participating in European structures.

The main location of the program was the public space Odlot. Strefa Partycypacji, where trainings and discussions were held. Participants studied public participation practices, mechanisms of local democracy and formats for supporting youth initiatives.

As part of the program, participants visited a number of important institutions and locations in Wrocław. In particular, the students visited the European Union Information Point, where they got acquainted with the work of European institutions, as well as the Fundacja Krzyżowa, which deals with international dialogue and civic education. An important part of the trip was a visit to the Church of Peace in Świdnica, a UNESCO site and a unique example of wooden sacred architecture. In addition, the participants gained a practical understanding of the work of the media during excursions to Radio Wrocław and the student radio station Radio Luz. Considerable attention was paid to studying the activities of scientific and educational institutions during visits to the Centrum Historii Zajezdnia, Hydropolis, the Wrocław University of Technology and the University of Wrocław. A separate example of local self-organization was the acquaintance with the work of the civic center "Centrum na Przedmieściu". Also within the framework of the program, a meeting was held with the deputy of the city council Jakub Nowotarski and representatives of the Fundacja Dom Pokoju, who shared their experience in the field of urban policy, conflict management and the development of civic initiatives.

Summing up, Olha noted that the Study Tour to Poland was a valuable opportunity not only to gain practical knowledge, but also to find new friends, make important acquaintances, and feel the atmosphere of an international youth community.

We wish Olha new interesting projects and achievements!
