Student Ivan Chumak studied at the University of Girona (Spain) under the Erasmus+ international mobility program

A 3rd-year student of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, Ivan Chumak (educational program "Economic, Social Geography and Regional Development", specialty 106 Geography, group GE-31) studied under the Erasmus+ international academic mobility program at the University of Girona (Universitat de Girona, Spain) during the second semester of 2024-2025 academic year.

This became a great opportunity for Ivan to gain new academic knowledge and practical experience in an international environment without interrupting his studies in Ukraine. Ivan chose the following courses to study:

  • Curs introductori de llengua i cultura catalanes (Introduction to the language and culture of Catalonia)
  • Gestió del patrimoni cultural (Cultural heritage management)
  • Noves demandes turístiques (New tourist demands)
  • Recursos turístics i sostenibilitá (Tourist resources and sustainable development)
  • Tècniques quantitatives i qualitatives en Ciències Socials (Quantitative and qualitative methods in social sciences)
  • Tecnologia de la Informació Geogràfica: análisis espacial (Geoinformation technologies: spatial analysis)

The mobility program became an important stage of professional growth for Ivan and provides an opportunity to deepen knowledge in the field of human geography, sustainable tourism and spatial analysis.

The K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism of Karazin University has a long-term and successful cooperation with the Department of Geography, the Faculty of Arts of the University of Girona (Spain). Over the past nine years, 7 students of the department have completed a semester study at the University of Girona as part of the Erasmus+ program.
