On March 21, 2023, Sergiy Kostrikov, D.Sc. in Geography, Prof., Professor of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, held the open lecture for the 3rd year students of the Geography Department from the course "Geographic Information Systems" on the topic "Fundamentals of GIS technologies of spatial analysis and modeling". PhD students and lecturers of the Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism also attended the lecture. During the lecture, Sergiy revealed the issues of the general purpose and content of geoinformation technologies, data for GIS, spatial objects and topology, the concept of the geospatial database, raster and vector model, data entry into GIS, geomodeling and geovisualization on contemporary GIS platforms. The present lecturers of the department noted that the lecture was held at a sufficient theoretical and methodological level, was interesting and structured. They also noted the active participation of students in the discussion during the lecture and characterized the lecture as fully meeting the contemporary requirements of higher education.
