On June 25, 2021, lecturers of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies took part in the Summer Online Workshop on Human Geography, organized by the Association of Human Geographers and the Kyiv Branch of the Ukrainian Geographical Society. 50 representatives from more than 20 Ukraine’s higher education and research institutions attended the worksop. At the workshop Natalia PROVOTAR, PhD in Geography, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor of the Department of Human Geography, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and Hryhorii PIDHRUSHNY, D.Sc. in Geography, Senior Research Fellow, Head of the Division of the Territorial Organization of Society, Institute of Geography of NAS of Ukraine, presented the scientific report on the topic: “Kyiv Metropolitan Region: Spatial and Functional Development Features". Scientists have described the approaches to defining the boundaries of the Kyiv metropolitan region and revealed the features of commercial suburbanization in this region. The scientific report aroused interest among those present and a lively discussion.
