Lecturers and students took part in a master-class by a representative of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine

On May 20, 2021 a master-class by Victor Podorozhny, Director General of the Regional Policy Directorate of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, on the topic: "State regional policy: new approaches to planning strategy" was held for higher education applicants of the EP "Urban Planning and Regional Development" and "Economic and Social Geography" of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, EP "Economic, Social Geography and Regional Development" of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, EP "Regional Development and Spatial Planning" of Yuri Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.

Victor told about the activities of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development, features of the State Regional Policy and the latest approaches to the planning strategy, focused on current challenges and opportunities for community and territories development. He stressed the need and timeliness of specialists training in the field of territorial organization of society, regional development and territorial planning, regional policy, etc. This important topic provoked a lively discussion on the specialists training in the field of regional development and their competencies acquisition in GIS analysis and monitoring of socio-economic development of territories, which is best embodied in educational programs "Economic and Social Geography" and "Urbanism and Regional Development" of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, "Economic, Social Geography and Regional Development" of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, "Regional Development and Spatial Planning" of Chernivtsi Yuri Fedkovych National University of. They discussed the participation of scientists in the development of regional development strategies and conducting scientific and practical research on this topic, the prospects for further cooperation between human-geographers and the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development.
