On April 11-12 at the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University passed the regular International Scientific and Practical Conference of Students, PhD students and Young Scientists "Region - 2019: human-geographical aspects".
The conference was attended by 74 participants, including from foreign countries, in particular from Georgia (Tbilisi State University), Armenia (Yerevan State University), Romania (Alexandru Ioan Cuza University), Hungary (University of Corvinus in Budapest), Serbia (University of Belgrade), Bosnia and Herzegovina (University of Banja Luka), Moldova (Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova), as well as from 17 institutions of higher education, institutions and organizations of Ukraine (Taras Shevchenko National National University of Kyiv, Institute of Geography of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv), I.I. Mechnikov Odessa National University, Lesia Ukrainka Eastern European National University, Oles Gonchar Dniprovsky National University, Volodymyr Hnatyuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University, Kharkiv State Academy of Culture, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Uzhhorod National University, S.I. Subbotin Institute of Geophysics, Ferenc Rakotsi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute, Institute of Environmental Management Economics and Sustainable Development of NAS of Ukraine, State Inspectorate for educational institutions of Ukraine, Carpathian National University named after V. Stefanik, National University "Lviv Polytechnic", Institute for Sustainable Development named after V. Chornovil, Mezyn National Nature Park).
The plenary session of the conference was attended by foreign and Ukrainian young scientists, meetings and communication took place in English, caused a lively discussion.
The topics of the conference were always relevant and covered the main aspects of human-geographical research. In particular, the most interesting and relevant reports of the plenary session were Miron Cosmin-Adrian, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University (Romania) "Military Geography And Planetary Issues"; Olha Suptelo, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University "Manifestations of urbanistic identity in post-industrial cities: city public- and web-space (main case Kharkiv)"; Marina Lohvinova, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University "Problems of adaptation of internally displaced persons to host communities", which were implemented as part of the project "Ukrainian geopolitical fault-cities: urban identities, geopolitics and urban policy", jointly with the University of Oslo (Norway); Alina Ovcharenko, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University "A review of researches of indicative landscape monitoring using remote sending data".
The sectional reports covered modern problems of regional development, demographic studies, recreational geography and tourism, rational use of natural resources and sustainable development at the regional level.
At the end of the conference participants was waited for an excursion to the museums and centers of the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, as well as the city of Kharkiv and a trip to Feldman Ecopark. The work of the conference was productive, many topical issues of modern socio-geographical science were considered, and promising connections with young scientists from Ukraine and abroad were established. The next conference will be held in the fall.
