On March 17, 2023, as part of cooperation at the Department of General and Regional Geography of Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko, Ph.D. in Geography, Associate Professor of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University Liudmyla Kliuchko held a guest lecture on the topic "Historical features of the development of medical geography" for students of 751 specialty group of the specialty 014 Secondary education (Geography) of the second (master's) level of higher education. The Head of the department, PhD in Geography, Associate Professor Olesya Kornus moderated the guest lecture. The lecture was devoted to the development of medical geography as a scientific discipline. Together with the master's students, the conceptual and terminological apparatus of medical geography, its structure, connection with other branches of science, stages of formation of medical geography were considered. During the lecture, the applicants got acquainted with famous geographers and scientists who were engaged in research in the field of medical geography, methods of mapping various nosoforms. Issues of spatial differentiation of population health indicators were analyzed, taking into account the impact of combination of natural, economic and social factors characteristic of different areas. A separate issue was the formation and development of medical geography in Ukraine.
