Defence of the qualification papers of masters of full-time and part-time forms of study in the specialty 106 Geography of the educational and professional program "Economic, Social Geography and Regional Development" were held at the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies on 10 and 11 December 2019.
During the defense, master students have shown that they have successfully mastered general and specialized disciplines, have a meaningful and specific knowledge of the theory and methodology of human geography.
The presented to the defense papers are executed at sufficiently high level using a variety of modern geographical research methods, as well as with the use of computer and GIS technologies. Most of the masters' qualification papers are real and dedicated to the study of different fields and areas of human geography, in particular, regional problems. It regards to research on specific sectors of the economy, analysis of foreign economic relations, tourism potential, demographic situation, population migration of Kharkiv region and other regions of Ukraine, individual administrative regions, as well as countries of the world. Students' reports during defense were accompanied by presentations contained the main content of the paper. All demos were made using MapInfo, Paint, Arc View GIS, etc.
The defense of master's qualifications showed that graduates of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies can successfully work in various spheres of economy, executive bodies, where knowledge of the basics of human geography, regional policy, placement of productive forces, etc. are required.
