From June to September 2023, a PhD student of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies Daria Venhryn was conducting research at the University of Waterloo (Canada) under the International Mitacs Globalink Research Program.
Daria worked on a project, under the mentorship of the Professor Nancy Worth, that investigated the impact of Ukrainian migrants on the cities of Ukraine and Canada. During the internship, it was possible to compare the readiness of Canadian and Ukrainian cities to accept migrants and explore how different sectors of urban infrastructure face challenges and opportunities under the influence of migration.
Based on the results of the research, an article will be published in the scientific journal «Canadian Geographies».
