Students of the department completed their studies at the University of Ostrava (Czech Republic) under the Erasmus+ program

Students of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies– Denys BIELIEVTSOV, Pavlo IVANENKO (ESP “Urban Planning, Geoplanning and Sustainable Urban Development”, 1st year of master’s degree, group GU-25), Darya KRYKUN, Oksana UTIENKOVA (EPP “Economic, Social Geography and Regional Development”, 1st year of master’s degree, group GC-25) – successfully completed their studies at the University of Ostrava (Czech Republic) under the Erasmus+ international academic mobility program.

During the 2nd semester of 2025-2026 academic year students learned at the Department of Human Geography and Regional Development, Faculty of Science, University of Ostrava without a break from their main studies in Ukraine.

During their studies, they mastered the following courses:

  • Economic geography;
  • Ecosystem services;
  • Humanitarian Aid and Development C
  • Urban geography;
  • Limits of Development in China and India;
  • GIS project ( Believtsov);

The students took part in various events organized by the Czech side for faster adaptation and study of the region, namely: “Quick acquaintance”, “Quiz evening”, various sports events, events to learn about other cultures, study tours of the cities of Ostrava, Hradec nad Moravice, Olomouc, Brno, etc. The students also visited the 3rd International Teaching Week in Political, Economic and Cultural Geographies, which was attended by 25 teachers from different countries of the world.

Separately, the students visited Prague and other Czech cities, where they got acquainted with the urban structure and architecture of cities. They also visited such countries as Austria, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Albania, Latvia.

Participation in the Erasmus+ program provided students with a unique opportunity to study at a European university, gain practical skills, broaden their vision of their specialties, and gain experience in a multicultural and multinational environment. This student mobility is extremely important for the formation of professional competencies of future geographers.

The students express their gratitude to the lecturers of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies for their support, organization, and the opportunity to study at the University of Ostrava under the Erasmus+ program. The department maintains long-term and successful partnerships with the University of Ostrava. In particular, over the past 5 years, 19 of our students have completed a semester of study under this program, which confirms the high level of international integration of our department.
