On March 14, 2026, as part of the “GeoAcademy” project of the Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Associate Professor of the Department Ievgeniia Telebienieva gave a lecture to applicants on the topic “Geography in Action: How Tourism Discovers the World”. The lecture was dedicated to tourism as a practical application of geographical knowledge and was aimed at applicants, who were shown the possibilities of learning about the natural, cultural and socio-economic features of various territories. The role of tourism in the development of regions, the popularization of geography and its impact on the economy and culture was emphasized. Special attention was paid to educational tourism, in particular, the opportunities for studying within academic mobility programs, such as Erasmus+.
The event was attended by students of lyceums in Kharkiv and the region, as well as students of the Municipal Institution "Kharkiv Regional Center for Tourism, Local Studies, Sports and Excursions of Pupil Youth" of the Kharkiv Regional Council.
We express our sincere gratitude to all participants of the event for their activity and interest. The event confirmed the importance of combining theoretical knowledge with practical mastery of the world through tourism. After all, as it is rightly noted: "Geography teaches us to understand the world, and tourism teaches us to know it with our own eyes."
