Cultural Landscapes: Geographical Vision of Meanings: Popular Science Lecture as Part of GeoAcademy

On February 28, 2026, as part of the GeoAcademy project, the head of the department, Kateryna SEHIDA, gave a lecture “Cultural Landscapes: Geographical Vision of Meanings” to applicants, introduced puplis to concepts aimed at explaining the formation and functioning of cultural landscapes, considered examples from countries around the world, and discussed issues of emotional geography, participation, and memorialization of spaces in Ukraine in today's conditions.

The pupils of lyceums in the city of Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region, pupils of the Municipal Institution “Kharkiv Regional Center for Tourism, Local Studes, Sports, and Excursions of Pupil Youth” of the Kharkiv Regional Council joined the event. Pupils actively participated in the analysis of cultural landscapes, discussion of key historical and geographical features, and search for hidden meanings. Also, it was discussed the possibilities of academic mobility of students of the specialty C6 Geography and Regional Studies within the event. The head of the department shared the experience of international cooperation and participation of students in exchange programs and summer schools.
