The lecturers of the department conducted advanced training courses for pedagogical, scientific-pedagogical and scientific staff of higher education institutions and scientific institutions of Ukraine

In December 2025, advanced training courses for pedagogical, scientific-pedagogical and scientific staff of higher education institutions and scientific institutions were held at the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The training was conducted in the online format according to the certificate educational program “Formation of civic competencies of higher education students in view of Ukrainian national identity and community participation”. The total volume of the program was 180 hours (6 ECTS credits).

The head of the program is Nataliia HUSIEVA, PhD in Geography, Associate Professor of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies.

The course was led by:

- Kateryna KRAVCHENKO, Associate Professor of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, Dean of the Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism;

- Kateryna SEHIDA, Professor, Head of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies;

- Yuriy KANDYBA, Associate Professor of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies;

- Olga SUPTELO, Associate Professor of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies.

The program is aimed at improving the professional competence of pedagogical, scientific-pedagogical, and scientific staff of higher education institutions and scientific institutions in the field of forming civic competencies of higher education students with a view to developing their Ukrainian national, civic, and territorial identity, civic activity and responsibility, involving youth in participatory practices in territorial communities in the context of post-war reconstruction of Ukraine; developing modern knowledge, skills, and abilities in students regarding civic education methods, developing critical thinking, democratic values, and active civic position of higher education students.

As a result of successful completion of the training, all participants received certificates of the established standard.

The training was attended by 50 students from 15 higher education institutions and scientific institutions of Ukraine (Lesia Ukrainka Volyn National University, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, A. S. Makarenko Sumy State Pedagogical University, Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute National Technical University, Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, Volodymyr Hnatyuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University, Volodymyr Vynnychenko Central Ukrainian State University, Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, Kyiv National Linguistic University, Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University, National University of Life Resources and Environmental Management of Ukraine, Mykola Gogol Nizhyn State University, Kharkiv National Automobile and Road University, Institute of Geography of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Municipal Institution "Kirovograd Regional Center for Tourism, Local History and Excursions for Students").
