Kateryna Sehida – Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
She was born on December 1, 1985 in Kharkov. In 2003 she graduated from SES № 160 in Kharkov with a gold medal. Since 2003, she had studied at the Faculty of Geology and Geography of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, who graduated with honors in 2008 and received the Master's degree in Human Geography. In 2008 - 2011 she was studing at the post-graduate school of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. In 2011 she ahead of time defended her PhD thesis on specialty 11.00.02 "Human geography" on the topic: "Human-geographical features of the demographic development of a regional socio-geosystem" (case study of Kharkov region)», received the PhD in Geography degree on the specialty 11.00.02 "Human geography". In 2014 - 2017 she studied at the doctoral school of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. In 2017 she ahead of time defended her doctoral thesis on specialty 11.00.02 "Human Geography" on the theme: "The Human-geographical Concept of the Geodemographic System of the Region", received the D.Sc. in Geography degree on the specialty 11.00.02 "Human geography". She has been working as a senior lecturer since 2010, she is an Assistant Professor since 2012 and a professor of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies since 2021.
Head of the Research project for young scientists of state budget financing "Development methods for analyzing and forecasting demographic processes and resettlement of the population for optimization" (2016-2018). Head of the young scholars’ research project "Formation of the Ukraine's Human Potential Through the Leveling of Demographic Issues" (the President of Ukraine’s Grant to support research of young scientists for 2018).
Responsible executor of the research project “Territorial planning of Kharkiv and Kharkiv region on the basis of demographic potential: theoretical and methodological development" (2016-2017), "Socio-geographic justification of the formation of united territorial communities in the Pervomaisky district of the Kharkiv region" (2017) and "Greater Kharkiv: rationale and theoretical and methodological basis for the study of modern agglomeration processes" (2021).
Thanks of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for many years of conscientious work, significant personal contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists and fruitful scientific and pedagogical activity in 2020.
