Sergiy Kostrikov – Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
He was born on February 5, 1956 in Artsyz, Odesa region. In 1979 he graduated with honors from the Faculty Geology and Geography of A. Gorky Kharkov State University. For several years he was working as a teacher of geography in a secondary school. From 1984 he worked at the university at the Department of Nature conservation and environmental management. In 1992 he defended the thesis on "The structural network of fluvial topography, its role and indicative importance in functioning water-soil environment transfer". In 2000 Sergiy received a joint Master degree of European and Central, Manchester Universities in Science and Environmental Policy. In January 2007 he defended his doctoral thesis on "Fluvial geomorphosistem: geoinformation modeling of fluvial relief catchment".
In 2001-2002 and in 2007 he worked as a lecturer-visitor in the United States and Great Britain.
Since June 2011 he has been working as a professor of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies.

Research interests: GIS-modeling, development of GIS platforms and modules, informational technologies in territorial management, urban studies with GIS-tools.
